Farmgate Stand
We offer a variety of in-season produce at our Farmstand. Please visit our Produce page for more information on what’s in-store for purchase, or drop-in for ‘fresh from the field’ sales. CASH SALES ONLY.

U-pick Pumpkin Patch
It's a jungle out there...take your time to choose from over 2 acres of 12-25 lb pumpkins. Pick your "soul mate" pumpkin right from where he grew up (he won't move, gosh, he's not going anywhere unless you come find him). Only you can carve out your pumpkin's true personality but hurry... he's desperate! The cows pace back and forth watching and waiting for the poor unchosen pumpkin souls that will be flung in for their next ghoulish bovine meal.

Visits to Pumpkin Patch by wagon tour only *NO Walk-thrus ALLOWED..

Horse-drawn Wagon Tours
You will see lots of scarecrows and some farm animals on board a 30 minute round-trip drafthorse-drawn wagon tour by our giant white Percheron Teams. The wagon tour passes by a sunflower field, barns, mountain views between hay fields, neighbouring cranberry and blueberry fields, across a creek, through a stretch of woods, near a lovely pond where one is likely to see birds and wildlife. Stopping midway, you will get to spend extra time at the pumpkin patch, where you can choose your special Halloween pumpkins from over two acres of large pumpkins. *Reservations recommended for large groups for schools and organizations.

For Teachers/School Visits:  Please DOWNLOAD our Farm Visit Rules here BEFORE bringing your school children to the farm. Take the time to instruct your students as to the proper behaviour while on your Farm Visit, so they can have a safe and enjoyable farm experience. Thank you.

Pumpkin Smashing Catapult

catapult in action
Come watch our new medieval catapult launch 10-20lb pumpkins 40 feet high and travel as far as 120 feet. The catapult itself stands 15 feet tall and was built by brothers Randall and George Barton from timber from the farm this past summer. The pumpkin is placed in the sack, then stand back as it flings the pumpkin up into the air, landing with a big splat. The pumpkin is smashed to smithereens! Who gets to clean up the pieces of pumpkin? Well nothing goes to waste on a farm. The cows sneak in at night to gobble up the tasty treats. Cows work better then a hoover vacuum!
We have daily catapulting.
Come out and watch the FUN!

no dogs please

A few words about Pumpkin Picking and Farm Etiquette...

Please do NOT pick up pumpkins by the stem! Stems are NOT handles – when broken off, they cause rot to begin, and your pumpkin will not last long, nor will the ones you decide not to buy.

As Abby Lane Farm is a "working farm" it is important to understand about our Rules. A farm is a calm, peaceful and serene place and we want to make your farm visit interesting and educational. It can also be a dangerous place because we have large equipment and farm animals; we find it often necessary to educate our visitors on appropriate behaviour. Please respect our rules and we will all have a happy farm experience.

Here are some basic Farm Visit Tips for our first time visitors:

  • Please leave your dogs in your car – we have farm dogs and other dogs can cause problems. Farm animals are also bothered by strange dogs as this is our/their territory.
  • Do NOT pet the Horses, unless supervised. Our horses are LARGE and can cause bodily harm, especially to young children. Always walk slowly to the front of horses to pet them as they are wearing blinders and can not see what's behind them. Never use loud voices or exaggerated movements. Horse treats are welcome, but please wait until break time - although the horses love treats brought for them, they have to wait until their break to eat because of the bridal bits in their mouths prevent them from chewing.
  • Do NOT get on the wagon until the driver is in place. For your safety, we require all passengers to wait until instructed before getting onboard.
  • Do NOT pick up, chase or throw things at the chickens.
  • STAY OUT of areas that are forbidden – non-picking pumpkin fields, cow pens, barns and ponds.

What is a "Working Farm"?

A working farm is a place of work – it has heavy equipment, tools and animals that require respect and a little education. It is important to stay out of areas where work is happening and not to touch farm equipment or farm animals. Farm equipment and farm animals can be dangerous.

We have areas that are restricted from public and well-marked with signs: cow pens, non-pick pumpkin fields, barns and water ponds. We ask that you be respectful of our farm while you are here, making it an enjoyable farm experience for all.

Have FUN, but remember to always stay SAFE!
